The Best Wedding Venues in Hunter Valley

November 23, 2021

Let me take you on a tour of the finest wedding venues in Hunter Valley, and maybe even find you that dream spot to tie the knot!

As a wedding photographer in Hunter Valley, I have been fortunate enough to visit so many incredible wedding venues in this beautiful part of NSW. In doing so, I’ve found that ‘wine country’ could actually be my favourite place to shoot! And can you blame me! With its rolling hills, breathtaking mountain ranges and picturesque vineyards — it’s the most perfect wedding day backdrop. And only 2 hours from Sydney!

What I’ve found while exploring this wondrous region as a wedding photographer, is that due to its very varied landscape, the venues in Hunter Valley are all wholly unique. Each one has their very own view onto the world outside, and every one is more beautiful, and charming than the next! So how do you choose which one to tie the knot in?! That’s where I come in!

Today, I’m going to share what I believe to be the best wedding venues in Hunter Valley, in the hope that I may inspire your hunt for ‘the one’, or at the very least narrow down your shortlist.

My Favourite Wedding Venues in Hunter Valley

Stonehurst Cedar CreekStonehurst Cedar Creek

Stonehurst Cedar Creek is a family-owned vineyard and venue mere minutes from historic Wollombi, with a boutique wedding experience on offer to its marrying couples. On its 550 acres of lush, private land in Hunter Valley, you’ll find multiple wedding venues, celebration spaces and pretty spots to pose for your portraits. Plus, your travelling guests we’ll be able to stay on-site in one of the many charming cottages available exclusively to your loved ones, which are a stone’s throw away from all the action going on over your wedding weekend.

Circa 1876Circa 1876

A short walk from one of Hunter Valley’s other stunning wedding venues, The Convent, is its sister property, Circa 1876. An iconic destination for couples in New South Wales, and much loved far beyond for its picturesque location, and eclectic design. Not to mention its food, which is supplied by their very own organic garden. Between both The Convent, and Circa 1876, there are multiple spaces for you to celebrate your nuptials. Such as intimate celebrations of up to 60 in the Chapel, onto larger celebrations with up to 160 guests in the Grand Marquee. And after all that celebrating, your guests will be able to conveniently retire in the on-site boutique hotel.

Wandin Valley EstateWandin Valley Weddings - Wedding Photographer Hunter Valley

Wandin Estate is one of Hunter Valley’s most renowned vineyards and wedding venues, revered for its commitment to providing a luxurious experience for all their guests. And their kangaroos! Wedding ceremonies take place outdoors, surrounded by the tranquil beauty and breathtaking views that this private estate provides. And as this venue is also a working vineyard, wine does feature heavily in the special touches it is happy to arrange. From personalised thank you wines, and boozy lunchtime hampers, to its private Cellar Door experience for you and your special guests. Bespoke touches that make this NSW wedding venue just so special.

Bimbadgen Palmers LaneBimbadgen Palmers Lane

Bimbadgen Palmers Lane is one of the newest wedding venues in Hunter Valley, but is fast becoming the destination for NSW couples looking for some rustic charm on their big day. Located in the heart of Pokolbin, this indoor and outdoor celebration space benefits from panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and mountain ranges, which are best enjoyed up on the hill while you exchange your vows. And once you’ve tied the knot, your loved ones will be able to celebrate within this venues’ refined indoor reception space, with its exposed beams and high ceilings. Or alfresco, dinning on long family style tables under the stars. All while enjoying the award-winning cuisine from Esca Bimbadgen, and knocking back a few very local wines!

Albion Farm GardensAlbion Farm Gardens

If you’re looking for picture-perfect Hunter Valley wedding venues, you cannot dismiss the stunning Albion Farm Gardens, trust me, I’m a photographer! This beautiful & unique garden wedding venue located in Woodville has over 100 acres of farmland, and 25 acres of magnificent cultivated greenery. All ready and waiting to fill your big day backdrop! And it’s not just the outside that’s pretty, it’s the inside too. The Barn, this venues’ gorgeous, and painstakingly restored timber wood setting is perfect for a romantic ceremony. While the Woodville Hall Reception Room across the street offers the dream blank canvas space for couples looking to stamp some individuality on their big day. But this exclusive-use wedding venue is best experienced outside, and whichever season you choose to marry in, you’ll always have uniquely beautiful scenery surrounding you.

Redleaf WollombiRedleaf Wollombi

Add a touch of Italian-style flair to your list of wedding venues in Hunter Valley with Redleaf Wollombi, a luxury country retreat set within 100 magical acres. Its Tuscan style villa creates such a dreamy backdrop to wedding photography, while inside there is an array of artfully decorated hotel rooms that will provide the ultimate getaway for your travelling guests. Surrounding the villa sits a pool and stunning gardens that can play host to your exchange of vows, or backdrop your portraits. Within the extensive grounds there is The Garden Room, an intimate yet deceptively spacious reception room that can hold 60 of your seated guests. Although marquees are available for bigger parties, I believe this venue is best experienced with a smaller number of guests, as it then offers a more boutique feel.

The WoodhouseThe Woodhouse

One of the Hunter Valley’s finest wedding venues, The Woodhouse is an architecturally designed space that is truly unique. And its elegant timber building is purpose built for weddings with soaring 7m ceilings, 4m high windows, a free standing fireplace, huge outdoor undercover dancefloor/lounge area and an outdoor firepit with entertaining courtyard. It will be a little slice of heaven for your partying loved ones, who will also adore the stunning 100 acres of park-like countryside available for them to explore. And with so much private space on offer, The Woodhouse can offer multiple outdoor spots for you to host your ceremony, or cocktails. Plus, 15 members of your wedding party can stay on-site with you, which I’m sure will be much appreciated after all those celebrations!

Wallalong HouseWallalong House

My list of Hunter Valley wedding venues would not be complete without Wallalong House, an idyllic destination retreat that ticks all the boho boxes. This incredible spot is steeped in history, from its sandstone stables erected in the 1830s, to its 200-year-old fig trees — there isn’t an inch on this entire estate that doesn’t hold a story. While also looking amazing in your photos! But this venue is not just charming, it also has an abundance of celebration spaces. Like their outside ceremony spot located between those aforementioned fig trees. Or the receptions held inside the sophisticated Indian tent, which sits next to the in-ground pool — a wonderful place to relax in while the sun is high.

There are so many dreamy wedding venues in Hunter Valley, but have you found ‘the one’?

As a professional wedding photographer in Hunter Valley, it would be my pleasure to document your special day. Using an unobtrusive, naturalistic style, I will photograph your story timelessly and lovingly to produce a keepsake you will adore forever more.
